yeah. true, nothing interesting is happening. I see your point. but it gets better, if you're still interested. . . So Chris and Bane set off for the saloon, Bane chose to Run alongside while Chris rode his horse at an easy pace. Once they got to the bar, Chris tied his horse, and they headed in and bought a couple drinks. Bane and Chris chatted cheerily, telling stories, and just having fun. They hadn’t been visiting long when a short, slightly chubby old woman burst into the bar, yelling at the door as she passed it. Chris coughed hard, struggling to hold down what he’d just drunk. Bane guffawed, trying to make it sound as if he’d coughed as well. Chris swallowed and took in a fast breath as Bane kept pretending to cough through his laughter. Chris regained his breathe and glared at Bane, “That’s Nina. The town-” Chris looked to check if she was near cautiously and looked back at Bane, “Well, she’s not right upstairs.” Chris said, pointing to his head. Bane smiled in amusement as Nina began yelling at the barstool she’d just fallen off of, “I like ‘er.” Chris almost choked on the chunk of roll he’d just bitten into. Bane turned his head to look at Chris, then returned his gaze to Nina, “She’s classy.” Chris hit his fist against his chest and Bane stood and walked behind him and walloped him on the back. Chris reached in his mouth and removed a slightly soggy wad of bread, and coughed again. Bane patted him on the back, “Stop doin’ that. You’re gonna hurt someone.” “Someone as in me?” Chris breathed Bane shook his head, “Nah. You could’ve coughed that across the room and into someone’s eye.” Bane said as he returned to his seat. He glanced over to where Nina had been, but she wasn’t there. However, it didn’t take Bane long to identify her voice, and look to find her trying leaning heavily on a man sitting at a poker table, the man looked horrified, her face inches from his, she breathed in his face whilst giving him useless tips on how to play poker. Bane grinned in amusement, “I admire a woman with such confidence.” Nina took a handful of the poker chips, waving them in the man’s face, then walked away, waving the chips above her head before absentmindedly placing the chips in her pocket. Bane guffawed hard at the man’s face as she walked away. After a moment, Bane asked, “Why doesn’t he take ‘em back?” Chris’s uneasiness seemed to begetting much worse, his discomfort showed obviously in his face and body language as he answered, “Many of the people around here fear her, some say she’s a witch.” I decided not to wait....'cause I was bored. 'ere's some more. Bane wasn’t intimidated in the least, but was getting more interested in this crazy old woman. “So why’s no one done anything?” “They’re scared and don’t know what to do.” Chris answered, his voice softer than usual, “A lot of us just avoid her.” Bane looked around, it was true. Many of the people had cleared out, and the bartender’s face was a bit pale. But there were a few men who seemed not too mind much Nina’s presence. Chris seemed nervous, but stayed in the bar only because Bane was staying. “I can’t imagine why.” Bane said, grinning at Chris. A small smile appeared on Chris’s face. Bane obviously felt satisfied. He threw his legs on the table, crossing his right over his left, and grabbed his drink, “So, tell me about little Emily. How old is she now?” Bane asked after a few minutes of nothing but Nina’s talking to be heard. Chris blinked, “What-sh-” Chris sighed, and smiled, “You’re a good man, Bane.” Bane smiled and gave a two fingered salute. “Bane?” Nina’s crackling voice asked. Chris froze. tbc

*has a wide grin placed across her face.* I like his reaction to Nina. . . but now I see no point in posting more of the story. You've read pretty much all of it, and no one else gets on.
